6 Movies that sends a strong Social Massage

It is generally believed that if a socially relevant message is conveyed through a movie, it can impact people more deeply than if conveyed otherwise. So here is a list of films that not just entertain you, but also enrich you.


Taare Zameen Par


Taare Zameen Par (2007) starring Darsheel Safary, Aamir Khan, Tisca Chopra is unquestionably one of the most emotionally stirring films made in Indian cinema. The film addresses the topic of dyslexia and child upbringing very sensitively and informatively. It is also Aamir Khan’s first film as a director and there is no doubt, he did justice to it. The film won five film fare awards and was also acclaimed for its soulful music.


 


3 Idiots



One of the best comedy drama films that entertains you as well as enriches you is 3 Idiots (2009) featuring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan. The film tries to address the flaws in our education system and compels us to reconsider our perspective towards education and learning in general. It is indubitably one of the most successful films made in Bollywood with six film fare awards to its name. 


 


Oh My God



Umesh Shukla’s Oh my God (2012) starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar is one of the few satirical films in Bollywood which addresses the superstitions prevailing in our society. The film is an adaptation of the Gujrati play Kanji virudh Kanji, revolves around the life of an atheist named Kanji Mehta (played by Paresh Rawal).  It is definitely one of the films that not just entertains you, but also compels you to think and introspect your perspective by conveying a socially relevant message.


 


Dangal



The 2016 Bollywood film Dangal is a biopic on the lives of Mahavir Singh Phogat (played by Aamir Khan) and his daughters Geeta Phogat (played by Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Babita Kumari (Sanya Malhotra). There is no doubt that Dangal is much more than just a biopic. Along with educating the audience about the sport of wrestling, it also explores a father daughter relationship that can emotionally stir you and above all it addresses the issue of gender discrimination in our society very articulately.   


 


Swades



Swades (2004) directed by Ashutosh Gowariker is one of Indian cinema’s finest of films. The film stars Shahrukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi in the lead roles and tries to shed light on various social issues that prevail in our society like caste discrimination, poverty, lack of education. The film also tries to show the arduous lives of people in rural India. With 2 film fare awards and innumerable other accolades, Swades is undoubtedly a very thought provoking film which conveys a very relevant social message.


 


Chak de India



There is certainly no doubt that Shimit Amin’s Chak de India (2007) is one of the best sports films made in the Indian film industry, but it is a lot more than just a sports film. The film tries to explore many aspects of our society and tries to address a number of socially relevant issues like caste and gender discrimination, communal biases, lack of unity.  Chak de India is one of the most acclaimed films of Bollywood and is a recipient of 5 film fare awards and numerous other accolades.
