5 Bollywood Movies guaranteed to get you in tears

Taare zameen par 


It is difficult to find a person who wasn’t emotionally moved after watching Taare Zameen Par (2007) which starred Darsheel Safary, Tisca Chopra and Aamir khan in the lead roles and was also Aamir khan’s debut film as a director. The film which addressed the topic of dyslexia and child upbringing was critically acclaimed for its unique subject matter and also for its heart melting music and lyrics. It also won the film fare award for best film of the year. 


Bajrangi Bhaijaan


  


Bajrangi Bhaijaan starring Salman Khan, Harshali Malhotra and Kareena Kapoor is one of Indian cinema’s top notch films with a strong message promoting universal brotherhood. The film directed by Kabir Khan is a fictional story of an eight year old mute girl from Pakistan who’s lost in India and is helped by an Indian man to reunite with her family in Pakistan.  One cannot help but feel emotionally stirred when she reunites with her family in the end. The film was appreciated for its strong message, well written screenplay and direction. It also won numerous accolades including the film fare award for best story.


Anand


 


 Anand (1971) is one of Hrishikesh Mukherji’s finest of films and also an eternal classic of Indian cinema. The movie starring Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan revolves around the story of Anand played by Rajesh khanna who is suffering from a terminal illness. Despite being aware of the fact that his illness is incurable and his life is no longer than a few months, Anand manages to live exuberantly and spreads his happiness to the people around him. The movie is remembered for its strong thought provoking message, fine performances and its heart melting music. It won six film fare awards and is considered to be one of the movies which one must watch before dying.


Swades


  


The list of bollywood’s finest films cannot be complete without mentioning Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades (2004) which starred Shahrukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi in the lead roles. The plot of the film revolves around the character of Mohan Bhargava played by Shahrukh Khan who is a non resident Indian working for NASA in the United States. Mohan returns to India to search for Kaveri Amma who was his caretaker in his childhood. He reunites with Kaveri Amma at Charanpur, a small rural village in India, where he also discovers the bitter truth of rural India and the arduous lives of the villagers. Many scenes of Swades can stir you emotionally and make you think at the same time. It also addresses critical issues like caste discrimination and illiteracy. The film is also acclaimed for its music which was composed by A.R.Rahman and has won three film fare awards.


Baghban


Baghban (2003) starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Salman Khan was directed by Ravi Chopra and is one of Indian cinema’s notable films. It revolves around the life of Raj Malohotra and his wife played by Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini respectively and their relationship with their children. The fine performances of Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini in the film’s emotionally stirring scenes can get your eyes teary. The film was also a recipient of four film fare nominations.
